Just found out that K-7 won Best Short Award at the Portland International Film Festival about six months ago. I'm belatedly stoked! It seems all the awards at Portland are audience awards, so that's about ten times sweeter. That makes 12 awards total for K-7 that I know of.

March 12 2007

Well, we've almost reached the end of K-7's film festival run, and to top it all off we just won TWO AWARDS IN ONE DAY, SON!

UNO! This morning I got the call that Jarrad Paul and Kai Lennox have won a Special Jury Award from the Lake County Film Festival for Outstanding Acting Team. Huzzah!

DOS! Just now heard that K-7 won the Best Short Award at the World of Comedy Film Festival in Toronto. Huzzah again!

That makes 11 AWARDS for the mighty K-7!

What has K-7 been doing since June 22, 2006 you ask? Not much, just writing and producing a whole entire mini-series for the Sci-Fi Channel, THAT'S ALL:

K-7 has won a SPECIAL JURY AWARD from the USA Film Festival. The strange part of this was, I had assumed I was REJECTED from this festival. It turns out they do something sort of odd for shorts -- they only screen the four main winners. So, K-7 has won a prize without actually being shown. But guess what? K-7 will take any prize you throw at it. K-7 is a slut for prizes THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Film Threat posted this five-star review of K-7 by T.W. Anderson. A sample quote:

"...Filled to the brim with sidesplitting humor, bright characterizations, tight scripting, and beautifully photographed in all its crisp 35mm glory by Kenneth Yeung, Writer/Director Christopher Leone’s second live action short is an extraordinary exhibition of his future prospects as a feature filmmaker...."

If I wasn't already an egomaniac, my head might explode.

The Austin Chronicle printed this review of "K-7" during SXSW, as part of a review of the shorts program "Reel Shorts 1." Thanks to Fanny and Risa for the heads up!

"...Though it might seem overenthusiastic to recommend an entire program on the basis of one short, closer "K-7" would make sitting through two hours of C-SPAN2 worth it. The film won Best Live Action Short at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and even its opening credits are stimulating. The acting is note-perfect, the script tight, and the look as crisp as a Hollywood feature."

The complete review is here.
